SYDNEY FOUR ELEMENT EFFECT CD LAUNCH
A few brief highlights by MC Tash.
So it was confirmed. Me, Ksino, Oldschool Johnny and Paul, the bass player from White Lion Studio were to be the interstate guests at the launch for the Four Element Effect CD launch. We were meant to hire a van, but we didn't hire the car till the last minute..thus I were stuck with a 4W Drive and 4 boys! Agh, farts, ill srvo food, cigarette smoke and bad jokes all the way, I thought.
Instead, I got No MC doing karaoke to all his dub cds, lynx aftershave, cigarette smoke and only a few farts...
Anyway, we got there. The day before the gig we hooked up with ESP [the guy who brought us over] to visit two hip hop radio shows at two different radio stations on the same night! [only in the big city..]But first things first, where are the munchies? ESP and Mass MC took us to their favourite souvlaki bar and it was very flavoursome- although the texture of the meat was very similar to spam....
The first radio show we stopped off at was a 'Murrie' station. As we get out of car Mass MC turns to us and says [real seriously] "If I get locked up tonight, everything's cool.." Weren't we just going to a radio show? Later Mass informs us he's banned from numerous radio stations, nightclubs and other places. Anyway Kasino plugged the gig on air then we were straight on to the next show. We followed ESP's flash but severely dented car and listened to the the radio show we were driving to on our boomin' [hired] car stereo. Damn! The radio show announcer sounded eerily like Brisbane's own Seany B...not just the voice, but also his laidback manner and the things he said. When we arrived we couldn't believe that this guy even looked like Seany! He played some tracks off the CD, Kasino plugged the launch and the radio announcer questioned me about my battle track.
Then I did some live raps followed by a longass freestyle from Mass. The next day we visited Trey and Phibes at Next Level Record shop in the city and did some crate digging....We saw flyers for the jam and couldn't believe it only went till midnight! How were we going to fit in 5 groups, 2 solo MCs and 4 deejays in four hours? And it was pissing down with rain all day/night [definately not good for the liquid eyeliner!]
The venue was really cool, sort of like an old, dark, picture theatre.to be cont.....
