TRACK BY TRACK
Original, scandolous, funky and raw, Australia's hardcore female emcee breaks it down track by track on....QUEEN EMCEE TASH
GETS A LITTLE NASTY
HERSTORY
FEAT. SERECK
This is a song remembering the history of female emcees in New York from the late 70s through to the late 80s. Each of the three verses break down a different era- late 70s, mid 80s and late 80s. With each verse, the beats and flow change to suit the era. I actually stole some punchlines from my favourite 80s female hip hop records and put them all together, a big peace and respect to the women who pioneered this shit! Bboy/writer/emcee Unique aka Sereck did the beats for an authentic old school feel.
CENSORSHIP IS UGLY
FEAT. OLDSCHOOL JOHNNY
I can't believe I'm singing at the end of this song! Thanks to reverb and Johnny who can usually be found making eclectic dub, drum n bass in ya face or working at Butter Beats record store.
This is me having the opportunity to express my point of view on censorship....an issue I've had a few run-ins with. Also this is me letting all the hardcore heads know what i'm about. Too many cats scavenging for crums....I'm in it to have a good time!
YO KASINO!
FEAT. TWO DEE
Mr. Right aka Ksino put this LP out and I wanted to give my baby the biggest shoutout ever so I named a track after him. Some people think the catchy loop is from a Pixies tune but it's actually taken from anarchist Canadian band Propagandhi.
Two Dee on the cut for Tubby Dubs. Check him out on the Decipher track on The Four Element Effect CD.
HERSTORY- DUB MIX
FEAT. SERECK
I've always loved electro so I made sure I had the dub mix on the record for the breakers or djs who prefer no vocals..
ALWAYS UP TO SOMETHING
FEAT MASS MC, HYJAK AND THORN
This is like my political "smack is wack" track. Heroin is one of our youth's biggest killers and everyone in the Aussie hip hop scene has been touched by this. I wanted to get real explicit so who better to go visit than Mass, Hyjak [degenerates] and my homegirl Thorn in Sydney. Thorn has represented on many records in Milano, Italy and her much anticipated solo CD is coming out soon.
GETS A LITTLE NASTY
FEAT. JIGZAW GEOFF
Banned on Brisbane radio you heard it first on The Four Element Effect CD. Vocal samples of Shante are backing me up on this
appropriate battle track.....it got me into alotta trouble so I know ya'll dying to have it on wax! Katch from the Resin Dogs is already interested in sampling "dumb fuck" for a deejay track and I still laugh at the controversy...
FOR ONCE IT AINT A HE
FEAT. LO KEY FEEL
I wanted a couple of tracks with minimal vocals on there for deejays.
"Fat beats, Words!" "For once it aint a he who knows hip hop!"
This is by local down beat act Lo Key Feel and has a jazzy, Ninja Tune feel.
FOR REAL
FEAT. RAMAN AND RABBI AND TWO DEE
Two Dee played me and Rappin' Raman this mad sweet beat and I wanted to have a couple of positive songs so we grabbed it- along with some vocals from Jamaican reggae singer Rabbi before he went back to Canada. I also wanted to say that it is very cool to be successful and happy and being broke isnt positive!
CREWS MAKIN NOISE- ICZER ONE DUB
FEAT. ICZER ONE
I liked Iczer One's illbient beats on the 2Dogs record and I wanted a very modern, experimental dub on there so Lawrence English from Iczer One, Time Off magazine and Horrorshow Records offered his services. I love the dubby echo effect on the Tash samples he used from "Censorship is Ugly"....The crowd cheering at the end of side b is also very cute.
If you like hardcore hip hop I just released a nine track LP on wax...I also released it on CD...It has a picture cover and comes with a limited edition poster...Just send thirty Australian dollars or twenty American dollars to 183 or if you live in Australia you can pick it up from Butter Beats [Brisbane], Next Level [Sydney], Obese Records [Melbourne] and Clinic 116 [Adelaide].
